Effective Date: August 23, 2025
Our Privacy Promise
We believe in minimal data collection and maximum privacy protection. We only collect what's necessary to generate your random routes and we never sell your personal information.

To generate personalized routes, we collect:

3. Data Protection & Privacy Measures
3.1 Location Fuzzing
Privacy Protection: When you publish routes to our discovery page, we automatically add random variations (fuzzing) to your GPS coordinates. This means:
- Your precise location is never revealed to other users
- Published routes show an approximate area, not your exact starting point
- Even if someone views your shared route, your exact location remains protected
- This allows route sharing while maintaining your privacy
3.2 Data Security
We protect your information through:
- Encryption: All data transmission uses industry-standard encryption
- Minimal Storage: Location data is processed immediately and not stored
- Local Processing: Most data processing happens on your device
- No Third-Party Sharing: We never sell or share your personal data
4. Third-Party Services
4.1 Mapping Services
We integrate with mapping services to generate routes:
- Google Maps API: For route calculation and mapping data
- Mapbox: For additional mapping and geocoding services
These services receive only the fuzzy location data necessary for route generation and are subject to their own privacy policies.
4.2 Analytics Services
We use privacy-focused analytics to improve the app:
- Crash reporting for bug fixes
- Anonymous usage statistics
- No personal identifiers are shared
5. Your Privacy Rights
5.1 Control Your Data
You have the right to:
- Disable Location: Turn off location services (app won't function)
- Delete App Data: Uninstalling removes all local preferences
- Opt-Out Analytics: Disable crash reporting in app settings
- Request Information: Contact us about what data we have
5.2 Data Deletion
Since we store minimal data:
- Location data is never permanently stored
- Uninstalling the app removes all personal preferences
- Analytics data is automatically purged after 90 days
- No account deletion needed - there are no accounts
6. Children's Privacy
Routelette is not intended for users under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you are a parent and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

Summary
